No fake software in computers, China gov't tells localities+

(Japan Economic Newswire Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)BEIJING, April 10_(Kyodo) _ The Chinese government has issued orders to local authorities banning the use of pirated software in computers sold in China, the National Copyright Administration said Monday.

China faces pressure from the United States over the intellectual property rights violations in the country, ahead of Chinese President Hu Jintao's visit to the United States later in April.

According to a copy of the notice, issued March 31 jointly with the Information Industry Ministry and the Finance Ministry, computer makers and software manufacturers must report in February their sales figures for the previous year.

The Information Industry Ministry may deal with false reports by publicizing the names of companies that make them, the notice said.

The Information Industry Ministry and the National Copyright Administration also separately issued a notice urging the government sector to ensure that computers used do not utilize pirated software.
