(Asia In Focus Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)SEOUL, May 4 Asia in Focus - NCSOFT CORP. (KSE:036570), South Korea's largest publisher of online games, announced today its first-quarter earnings had dropped by almost half due to the absence of new products. In the January-March period, net income reached 6.8 billion won (US$7.3 million), down 49 per cent from a year earlier, the company said in a regulatory filing.

* Operating profit plunged 45 per cent to 8.6 billion won from the previous year's 15.9 billion won, but sales improved 5 per cent to 77.9 billion won, the company said.

* NCsoft, the publisher of the hit online role-playing game "Lineage," blamed the decrease in first-quarter earnings on the lack of any new game products and noted plans to release a series of new products from the second half to regain its growth momentum.
