(The Sun (Yuma, AZ)(KRT) Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Feb. 17--As of Monday morning, Mr. G's once again will be serving up its burritos and other favorites, but this time in its brand-new restaurant at 501 S. 4th Ave.

John Gutierrez, manager of the business his family owns, said the restaurant will open its doors for the first patrons at 7 a.m. Monday. The restaurant was recently constructed to replace the original building next door. That building has been demolished and a parking lot made on the site.



Metro Anti-Crime Patrol, a private security agency established in 2005 in Bakersfield, Calif., has opened a second agency in Yuma at 2260 S. 4th Ave., Suite A.

Owner/operator Jose Lorenzo Vazquez said the agency offers a variety of security services such as commercial patrol, residential patrol, industrial patrol, alarm responses, special events, bike patrol, foot patrol, service calls and standing guard services.


The agency has both unarmed security officers and officers trained to carry firearms, chemical agent (pepper spray), Tasers and batons. Vehicles are outfitted with reflective markings, light bars, spotlights, two-way radio equipment and mobile data computers to help deter criminal activities from a client's property.

Clients of the closed Joseph Didio law firm who have active files only can pick up their files in Yuma through March 13.

LZ Bar and Grill, 2175 S. Harley Drive, was honored last week at an annual statewide recognition celebration hosted by Arizona Small Business Development Center Network.

The event recognizes outstanding new small businesses throughout the state. LZ Bar and Grill was selected to represent Yuma County. The family-owned business was opened in April by Bill Malo, his wife, Evelyn, son Shawn and sister-in-law Katie Paulson.

Laura L. Lopour has joined the law firm of Michael Donovan as an associate attorney, specializing in estate planning, probate and tax.

With the expansion, Donovan is moving his firm this weekend and will be open for business Tuesday in the new location at 212 S. 2nd Ave. His office will retain the phone number of 329-8707.

Michael Telep Jr., who had shared office space with Donovan at 225 W. 2nd St., will remain there but will have a new phone number of 782-0815.

Lopour recently moved to Yuma from Phoenix, where she had been working as a tax consultant at a national accounting firm after graduating from law school at Arizona State University. In addition to her law degree, Lopour has a graduate certificate in accountancy.

"As a newcomer, I very much look forward to serving the Yuma community and have already enjoyed a warm welcome," she said.

Yuma Regional Plaza Laboratory's main laboratory has been awarded accreditation by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists.

During the CAP accreditation process, inspectors examine the records and quality control of the laboratory for the preceding two years, as well as the staff's education and qualifications, adequacy of the facilities, equipment, laboratory safety and laboratory management to determine how well the laboratory is serving the patient.

As of Feb. 22, financial adviser Barry D. Todd will no longer be associated with First Command Financial Planning.

Beginning Feb. 25, Todd will open his new office as BDT and Associates Inc. at 3939 S. Avenue 3E, Suite 130, where he will continue to provide services as a financial adviser.

America's favorite seafood swims into Famous Dave's with the addition of shrimp dishes to the restaurant's menu.

"Who better to grill them and add some barbecue sauce than Famous Dave's?," said Bill Dworak of Famous Dave's of Yuma, 1501 S. Yuma Palms Parkway at Yuma Palms Regional Center.

The restaurant's seafood menu items include the BBQ shrimp skewer appetizer, BBQ shrimp platter, BBQ shrimp and spareribs combo, BBQ shrimp and meat combo, and the BBQ shrimp sandwich.

Dune Company is expanding into the Mexicali Valley, with plans to open a facility there by the second half of 2008. The facility will serve U.S. growers who are moving their crop production south of the border because of labor issues and rising costs in the U.S.

Dune Company Mexicali will be located southwest of Mexicali in the heart of the vegetable growing area of the Mexicali Valley. It will be managed by Renato Saenz, who spent 17 years with Servicios NH3 in the Mexicali Valley.

Dune Company has been serving the winter vegetable industry in the desert Southwest since the 1960s with crop protection products, fertilizers, application services and technical advice.

OneSource Distributors, an electrical distribution company based in Oceanside that has a location in Yuma, has been honored by two utility companies.

The company received the Supply Chain Leader Award from Pacific Gas and Electric Company for its performance as a supplier for the company, partnering on the launch of a pilot vendor managed inventory program, its customer service and "above and beyond" support during the windstorms that hit Central California in January.

OneSource Distributors also was honored by San Diego Gas and Electric for helping the utility respond to and recover from the 2007 Southern California fires.
