Customer service center hiring

(Tulsa World (OK) (KRT) Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Feb. 20--A renewed contract will allow Alorica to grow.

Alorica Inc., a customer service management company, says it hopes to hire 200 to 300 people in Tulsa during the next two to three months.

The firm will host several events in coming days to give prospective applicants the chance to learn more about career opportunities.

The hiring is the result of Alorica extending a contract with a major cellular communications company. Alorica estimates it will reinvest up to $2 million in its local work force this year.

Chino, Calif.-based Alorica acquired some contracts and assets from DecisionOne in Tulsa in December 2005.

The company operates on eight floors of CityPlex Towers at 81st Street and Lewis Avenue and employs about 1,450 in Tulsa, said James Sherin, the Tulsa center's site director, in a phone interview.

"Alorica is committed to maintaining a strong presence in the community," said Jeffrey Sopko, vice president of human resources for Alorica, in a written statement.

"Alorica came to Tulsa because of the quality work force and will continue to reinvest heavily in our fantastic employees," Sopko

added.

Alorica will be hiring people for tech support and management positions.

The company is looking for professional people who have strong customer service skills. If they have technical skills, it's a plus, but the company will provide a 10-week training course, Sherin said.

Salaries for entry-level positions start at $9.50 an hour and offer a potential of $10.50 an hour within six months. Employees receive a wage increase of 50 cents every six months, Sherin said.
