Starbucks to close 12 more Long Island stores

(Newsday (Melville, NY) (KRT) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Jul. 19--Starbucks will close a total of 14 Long Island stores as part of shuttering 600 underperforming outlets across the country by the middle of next year, the company said.

Two of the Long Island coffee shops that are to close by the end of this month -- one in Central Islip near the U.S. District Courthouse and the other on Route 25 in Southold -- were announced earlier this week.

The Seattle-based company said early this month that it is closing 600 of its more than 7,000 U.S. stores because they are not profitable. Starbucks said stores will begin to close this month, and closings are all to be completed by the middle of next year. It did not specify when each shop is to be closed.
