Toshiba aims to secure 20% share in Philippines LCD TV market
(Japan Economic Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) TOKYO, Sept. 28 -- (Kyodo) _ Toshiba Corp. said Wednesday it aims to significantly boost its share in the liquid crystal display television market in the Philippines from 4 percent in fiscal 2010 to 20 percent in fiscal 2013 through March 2014.
The major Japanese electronics company has been reinforcing the marketing of its products in Southeast Asia and set up a wholly owned sales company in the Philippines in April.
Toshiba said it will launch later this year its new lineup of "Power TV" series, including one with a function that improves resolution and provides a clear image for analog TVs, as well as an energy-saving model with a light-emitting diode backlight.
The company said it also aims to double its market share of personal computers in the Philippines from 6 percent in fiscal 2010 to 12 percent in fiscal 2013, and secure a 10 percent share for tablets, up from 5 percent projected for the current business year.
