Surgical Information Systems Demonstrates Perioperative Interoperability at IHE North American Connectathon

ATLANTA, Jan. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Surgical Information Systems ("SIS"), a leader in perioperative information systems, announced today their successful completion of the healthcare industry's largest interoperability testing event, the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) Connectathon.

(Logo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20080722/SISLOGO ) The Connectathon is a week-long testing event promoting the adoption of IHE standards-based interoperability in commercially available healthcare IT systems. This year's event experienced an increase in participating vendors of more than 20% over 2011's Connectathon. The Connectathon's growth demonstrates the continued and increasing need for interoperability in the healthcare industry.

"SIS has been focused on interoperability since its inception and our participation in events such as IHE's Connectathon is an important part of that focus," said SIS CEO Ed Daihl. "As a specialist providing a highly interoperable, proven perioperative solution, our clients can experience the best of both worlds - depth in surgery and seamless integration with their chosen enterprise solution." SIS demonstrated successful interoperability for each of the IHE profiles that are critical in forming an effective information exchange between a perioperative system and other hospital systems. The company ran tests against over forty different vendors including Allscripts, Epic, and Cerner. SIS' completion of Connectathon testing included the following IHE actors in one or more IHE integration profiles: Alarm Communication Management (ACM) Audit Trail and Node Authentication (ATNA) Consistent Time (CT) Device Enterprise Communication (DEC) Patient Administration and Management (PAM) Patient Identifier Cross-Reference (PIX) Patient Demographics Consumer (PDQ) Cross Enterprise Document Sharing (XDS.b) for Documents Source and Document Consumer Exchange of Personal Health Record Content (XPHR, XDS-MS) (C32) for Content Creator and Content Consumer SIS will next participate in February's Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Interoperability Showcase, which features only vendors that participate and pass the testing completed at the Connectathon event. Visit SIS at HIMSS booth #1339 and at the Interoperability Showcase, February 20-24 in Las Vegas, NV.
