Telefonica Gains Top Cloud Certification - VMware vCloud Powered Services

(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 16 April 2012 Release date- 13042012 - Telefonica is the first company in Eastern Europe to have gained the VMware vCloud Powered Services certification.

'We have thus joined the providers recommended by VMware as tested, reliable and safe providers of ICT as a service. We appreciate this deeply and we believe that it will help us to convince more customers to leave the care for their IT infrastructure to us in order to be able to focus on their core activity,' Vit Subert, Telefonica Czech Republic's ICT & Presales Director, has specified.

VMware is literally a synonym for cloud services, as the company offers tools that create virtual servers for various purposes. O2 then offers these servers to its clients within cloud solutions. Customers may configure their servers easily, using a web portal. For instance, the installation of new software to the virtual server is a matter of a few clicks, as is the redistribution of performance among various services, and many other tasks.

'Within a few minutes, anyone can access systems required for good functioning of complex IT environment, from accounting systems to mail servers to e-shops to specialised tools for production management,' Vit Subert says. 'You do not have to deal with the question where to put the required hardware, how to cool it, how to ensure back-up power supplies and other issues. This is all handled by us, guaranteed by an SLA.' The massive advantage of O2's cloud services stems from the fact that only fixed monthly fee is billed for their usage, while building one's own data centre is a very demanding project financially and organisationally.

'Cloud computing is undoubtedly the driving force of the IT world now. It offers companies and their employees clear and measurable benefits through more efficient administration, increased flexibility and massive cost savings. The demand for this model is confirmed by our surveys, which indicate that one third of the companies in the Czech Republic are realistically considering using the cloud computing model. Customers are indeed gradually changing the way they look at IT services and they need partners they can rely on. This certificate confirms that Telefonica Czech Republic is a reliable partner,' says Michal Stachnik, VMware's Country Manager for the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic.

Telefonica Czech Republic collaborates with VMware on long-term basis and participates on beta testing of new software versions and brand new applications. The company's specialists are thus ready to launch new products immediately and able to make them accessible for clients virtually immediately upon their commercial presentation.

Main benefits of O2 Cloud services reliability (the hardware is located in state-of-the-art data centres, such as Nagano and others, with TIER 3+ security level) easy administration (setting and control are handled via the O2 Cloud web portal) promptness (services may be activated virtually immediately) high capacity (computing and data capacity may be boosted immediately, if required) support (nonstop professional support for all customers) price (O2's cloud services make IT infrastructure accessible for companies that have not had the financial resources for them before, and makes the infrastructure cheaper for companies that have been running their own solutions) O2 Cloud services have won professional magazine Computerworld's prestigious IT Product of the Year 2012 award in the category 'on-line and/or related service'.
