Ingersoll Rand names Nelson Peltz of Trian Partners to board

Ingersoll-Rand plc (NYSE:IR), a creator and sustainer of safe, comfortable and efficient environments, and Trian Fund Management L.P today announced that Ingersoll Rand is expanding its board of directors with the appointment of Nelson Peltz, chief executive officer and a founding partner of Trian Fund Management LP, effective 10 August 2012.
The addition of Peltz to the board brings the number of directors to 12, of which 11, including Peltz, are independent directors. Peltz will also join the corporate governance and nominating committee and the finance committee of Ingersoll Rand's board.
Peltz previously served as chairman and chief executive officer of Triarc Companies Inc, which during that period of time owned Arby's Restaurant Group Inc and the Snapple Beverage Group, as well as other consumer and industrial businesses. He founded Trian Partners in 2005 with Peter May and Edward Garden. Before that he was chairman and chief executive officer and a director of Triangle Industries Inc.
Peltz currently serves as non-executive chairman of Wendy's and is also a director of H. J. Heinz Company and Legg Mason Inc.
