Hudson Valley Community College To Offer Driver Education Course at TEC-SMART Facility in Malta


(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) TROY, N.Y., Aug. 27 -- Hudson Valley Community College issued the following news release: Hudson Valley Community College will offer a 48-session driver education course beginning Thursday, Sept. 20, at its TEC-SMART facility in Malta.



The course includes 24 hours of classroom instruction and 24 hours of on-the-road instruction. Classroom instruction will be on Thursday from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and driving instruction times are scheduled on Saturday morning and early afternoon.

The course runs through Jan. 17, 2013.


Students must be 16 years old and have a learner's permit or license before the course begins. Those who successfully complete the course will receive a student certificate of completion that allows them, at age 17, to drive after 9 p.m.

Located in NYSERDA's Saratoga Technology and Energy Park(TM) (STEP(TM)), TEC-SMART features more than a dozen state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories used to train the workforce in semiconductor manufacturing and clean energy technologies, including home energy efficiency, alternative fuels, solar, geothermal and wind energy. TEC-SMART also serves as an extension center for Hudson Valley Community College, and courses in business, the humanities and the liberal arts and sciences are also offered in the fall, spring and summer semesters. TEC-SMART is a collaboration between Hudson Valley Community College and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).
