Z-Wave Hits CEDIA 2012 With Major Milestones and a New Look

MILPITAS, CA, Sep 05, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- CEDIA 2012 Booth #1343 - The Z-Wave Alliance, a consortium of global companies that oversees the world's largest interoperable ecosystem for wireless home control products and services, is showcasing major milestones, new markets and a complete new look at CEDIA 2012 in Indianapolis, September 6-8.

Integrators and systems designers can visit booth 1343 to see all available and interoperable Z-Wave products through the use of an interactive catalog, which features the 700th certified Z-Wave product -- an energy-saving motorized roof window roller shutter by FAKRO. The award-winning Z-Wave technology, a linchpin of the residential integration industries, gives integrators a wireless technology that is compatible, extensible and easy to use.

"We're always excited to participate at CEDIA, but this year is special," said Mark Walters, chairman, Z-Wave Alliance. "With 700 certified and interoperable products, Z-Wave is now leading the way in wireless control, and is continually being selected as the technology of choice in security, hospitality, energy conservation and remote home management applications, among others." In addition to the Z-Wave Alliance booth, which will feature eight Alliance member exhibitors, Z-Wave products and Z-Wave powered services will be featured throughout the CEDIA show floor. Coinciding with this premier integrator showcase, the Alliance is announcing: The 700th Certified Z-Wave Product A motorized roof window roller shutter by FAKRO, a world leader in roof windows with 15% of the worldwide market. The announcement comes less than 90 days after the announcement of the 650th certified Z-Wave product, the ZRC-100 Portable Controller from Remotec Technology Limited. This rapid expansion of the Z-Wave product ecosystem demonstrates the exponential growth and market acceptance of Z-Wave technology.

New International Markets For Z-Wave A radio frequency range for low-power RF device usage was recently approved in two key international markets -- Japan and Brazil. As a result, Z-Wave-based control and automation solutions for smart homes and small businesses can now be used in these markets without the need for radio station licensing.

These developments open up the world's fourth and seventh largest economies respectively to the benefits of Z-Wave control. The news from Japan was immediately followed by the first Z-Wave Certified products for this new band, a commercial LED controller and dimmer from IWATSU Electric Company Ltd. that saves energy in commercial lighting applications.

New International Evangelists Two renowned technology experts have joined the Z-Wave Alliance to support the newly opened Japanese and Brazilian markets. The Alliance has appointed industry veteran Hitoshi Kubota as its Z-Wave Alliance Evangelist in Japan. Kubota has more than 40 years of professional experience in the computer and network industry. Most recently he served as the senior advisor for companies throughout the energy management industry as a Smart Grid architect.

For the Brazilian region, the alliance has appointed Evangelist Jean Pascal Nathan De Simone, who has 20 years of experience in marketing and international business development throughout four different continents. At a time when home control was almost completely unknown in his country, DeSimone brought the first Z-Wave products into Brazil.

New Z-Wave Alliance Web Site The new site is serving as the primary information hub for the companies and individuals that are driving the wireless control industry through Z-Wave.

The site will help educate integrators, members of the media and general consumers about the possibilities that the wireless Z-Wave standard can bring to their work, their play and their lives. A broad set of connective social functions, including dedicated collaboration circles and forums for technical, marketing and other working groups, will be added over time. The site retains its same address at www.z-wavealliance.org.
