HughesNet activates Gen4 satellite Internet service

Oct 02, 2012 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) -- EchoStar Corp. (NASDAQ: SATS) subsidiary and broadband satellite networks provider Hughes Network Systems recently announced the activation and availability of its new high capacity satellite Internet service, known as HughesNet Gen4.

HughesNet said the new Gen4 delivers speeds (up to 15 Mbps, depending on the plan) and greater download capacity, enabling customers to do more online than ever before. It is ideal for those living in areas in which high-speed landline connections are just not available.

In addition to a better web surfing experience, HughesNet Gen4 delivers the performance required to support high-bandwidth applications, including social media and video and music streaming. HughesNet Gen4 is available in a variety of new, affordable Power plans to suit customer's specific requirements. Hughes is offering an upgrade program for existing customers.

HughesNet is the nation's #1 high-speed satellite Internet service and Gen4 is built on the industry's most advanced network of high-capacity satellites and on-the-ground equipment, including the new EchoStar XVII satellite with JUPITER high-throughput technology.
