Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment

NEW YORK, Oct. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Reportlinker.com announces that a new market research report is available in its catalogue: Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment http://www.reportlinker.com/p0203504/Electric-Vehicle-Charging-Equipment.html#utm_source=prnewswire&utm_medium=pr&utm_campaign=Clean_Vehicle Level 1 and Level 2, DC Fast Charging, and Wireless EVSE: Global Market Analysis and Forecasts The past 18 months have marked the transition of the plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) into full commercialization. The electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) market is naturally a product of the PEV market, so the past year has seen a major uptick in EVSE deployments. In 2012, there will be almost 45,000 public charging stations installed globally. Much of this will be the result of publicly funded infrastructure initiatives. In comparison to government targets for PEVs, however, sales have been disappointing, and the relatively slow pace of PEV rollouts will act as a dampener on this market. With some exceptions, much of the private sector is waiting until PEVs are commonly seen on the roads in their areas before investing in charging infrastructure.

The EVSE industry is still trying to determine the best way to create a viable return on investment (ROI) on EVSE station deployments for site hosts. This issue is going to become front and center as the publicly funded EVSE deployments wind down. In these early months of the EVSE market, it has been relatively easy to encourage businesses to become site hosts when the EVSE equipment is free or heavily subsidized. Nevertheless, global sales of charging equipment are expected to grow at a steady pace as the plug-in vehicle (PEV) market grows. Pike Research projects that the global EVSE market will increase from fewer than 200,000 units sold in 2012 to almost 2.4 million in 2020.

This Pike Research report examines the state of the global EVSE market today, and provides forecasts through 2020. Including market analysis and forecasts for residential, workplace, public, and private EVSE, the report covers the development of fast charging over the past year and forecasts DC charging sales. It also forecasts the growth of wireless charging equipment, set to become commercially available in the 2013-2015 timeframe. EVSE forecasts cover the major regions of the world and include breakouts for key adopter countries including the United States, Canada, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Japan, China, Korea, and Israel. The report also includes profiles of over 40 industry players, including EVSE manufacturers and service providers, their suppliers, vehicle OEMs, and utilities.

Key Questions Addressed: How many charging stations will be installed for residential use or for commercial use, for the workplace, for private use, and for public use How many DC charging units will be installed through 2020 When will wireless charging equipment begin to appear for consumer applications, and how will this market expand through 2020 What are the differences between the EVSE markets and market drivers in different regions of the world What are the challenges to a successful business model for public charging equipment Who needs this report Utilities Electric vehicle manufacturers Charging equipment manufacturers Charging equipment component suppliers (connectors, software) Employers Building managers Industry associations Government agencies Investor community Table of Contents 1.
