Aircare Access Assistance Introduces Inflight Medical Remote Viewing Station for Business Aviation

Orlando, Florida, Oct 31, 2012 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Aircare Access Assistance announced today a new tool for the advanced assessment of passengers and crews aboard business aircraft. The Aircare RVS (Remote Viewing Station) is a self-contained system that allows the emergency room physician to see and hear a patient and the caregiver in-flight or in remote locations.

The system includes a mini laptop, high resolution camera, speaker phone, blue tooth headset, and several digital medical diagnostics tools such as a handheld ECG (electro-cardiogram) monitor, blood pressure cuff, thermometer, glucometer, pulse oximeter, and a high resolution macro-camera for both topical and non-evasive assessment for ears, nose, eyes and mouth.

The Aircare RVS Access Connect service, using DigiGone Secure Chat software, developed by Diginonymous LLC, is designed to work with airborne satellite and air-to-ground high-speed data systems. Satellite systems have limited and fluctuating bandwidth and the software was developed to use it efficiently and effectively delivering quality duplexing voice over IP and bi-directional video.

Earlier this year, extensive testing was conducted with Cobham company Thrane & Thrane's AVIATOR Swiftbroadband terminals to confirm performance at various data rates. The results confirmed performance and Thrane & Thrane will release an accredited solution in the first quarter of 2013.

The system was also tested by Satcom Direct in their Satellite Beach, Florida lab. "We were able to test the Aircare RVS and we were very pleased with the performance." said Scott Hamilton, Vice President of Business Development for Satcom Direct, "This potentially life-saving inflight medical device makes excellent use of satellite data for audio and video communication." In addition to being able to use very low bandwidth, the software also provides 256 AES encrypted peer-to-peer communications including VoIP, video, chat, and file sharing. This allows secure communications even in areas of the world where ground-based communications are monitored, individuals can talk and conference via video securely. Organizations can instantly set up ad hoc meetings and conferences for up to one hundred users. Applications include executive communication, security details and assembling emergency response plan (ERP) teams. Stand-alone client software is available from Aircare Access Assistance.

In an inflight medical emergency Aircare Access Assistance and the emergency room physician are able to request to see and hear the patient via the Aircare RVS. The system is designed so the crewmember or passenger only has to open the case and push a single button to power on the device and establish a connection. The doctor can then continue with assistance using visual and audio assessment.

The system is currently flying on business aircraft. MGM Resorts based in Las Vegas, Nevada recently outfitted their new Gulfstream 550 with the Aircare RVS. "Safety and security is priority one with our corporate flight department." said Bob Conley, Director of Aviation for MGM Resorts, "The Aircare Access RVS gives us the ability to bring the doctor to the patient in the air or on the ground, and gives our executives and security staff a specialized tool to talk, video conference, and send data securely, even in the remotest and least secure areas in the world." The Aircare Access RVS retails for $16,000 USD and includes a one year subscription for the Aircare Access Assistance tele-medical service.
