AT&T announces expansion of 4G LTE network in Florida Keys

Nov 09, 2012 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- US communications holding company AT&T (NYSE:T) said yesterday that it has expanded its 4G LTE network in the Florida Keys.

AT&T's 4G LTE coverage now includes parts of Big Pine Key and the Lower Keys, Marathon, Islamorada and Key Largo.

The company had launched 4G LTE in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach on 26 July 2012, expanding the service to Key West in October 2012. This expanded coverage to the Florida Keys is reportedly a part of the company's ongoing rollout across South Florida.

AT&T's 4G LTE provides several benefits including faster speeds, faster response time and more efficient use of spectrum.

Also, the company offers several LTE-compatible devices, including new AT&T 4G LTE smartphones and tablets, such as the Sony Xperia TL, LG Optimus G, Samsung Galaxy S III, Motorola ATRIX HD, HTC One X, Nokia Lumia 900, Samsung Galaxy Note and Pantech Element tablet amongst others.

AT&T's 4G LTE network currently covers over 285 million people. Over the past five years, the company has reportedly invested more than USD115bn into operations and into acquiring spectrum and other assets to enhance its wireless and wired networks.
