Inmatech to Showcase Next Generation Supercapacitor at The Battery Show

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Ann Arbor, Michigan (PRWEB) November 12, 2012 Inmatech, an emerging company dedicated to developing and bringing the next generation supercapacitors to market, announced today its upcoming participation in The Battery Show on November 13-15 at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi.

The company will exhibit its next generation supercapacitor prototype in Booth B857, alongside strategic partner Fraunhofer USA, a global non-profit organization for applied research and development. The company is helping Inmatech bring the product to energy storage markets through validation research.

In addition, Inmatech Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer Dr. Saemin Choi will participate in the Michigan Energy Forum (MEF) taking place on Tuesday, November 13 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. This forum will showcase regional, early-stage energy storage companies and university researchers in conjunction with The Battery Show.

“We are looking forward to sharing our technology at The Battery Show. We’re proud of the progress we made in terms of improving the performance of our devices and the efforts to help transfer technology from the lab to global markets. We’re doing it in partnership with the University of Michigan and businesses focusing on new energy solutions,” said Dr. Choi.

The U-M Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) is making it possible to bring Inmatech’s next generation supercapacitor to market, by actively helping to license the product for commercial applications. OTT also works on behalf of Inmatech to acquire grants, investment funding and industry partnerships.

The Battery Show 2012 is the premier showcase of the latest advanced battery technology. The event is attended by technical leaders, scientists, engineers, and senior executives invested in advanced energy storage.

Batteries are the principal devices used for most electrical energy storage, however, these devices are inefficient in pulsed and high power applications. Supercapacitors, another type of electrochemical energy storage device, are used to improve the efficiency, extend the run times and increase the cycle-lives of batteries by handling these pulsed and high power events.

Inmatech’s use of patented, low-cost materials and cell design results in safe operation (non-flammable) and higher energy density than those generated by other commercial supercapacitors. The combination of performance, cost and safety offered by Inmatech’s next generation supercapapcitor will enable significant expansion of important energy storage in automotive, smart grids and defense markets.

About Inmatech Based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Inmatech is an emerging company dedicated to next generation supercapacitors that incorporate low-cost, high-performing materials to optimize energy storage. Inmatech aims to commercialize its next generation supercapacitors within industries that need higher energy storage density and lower cost than current available supercapacitors.

To bring the next generation supercapacitor to market, Inmatech has secured private and federal funding, and key commercial partnerships in technology research, materials, manufacturing, validation and distribution. Pending commercial applications include use in hybrid electric vehicles and uninterruptible power supplies for smart grids and defense equipment.

Our team led by Co-Founders Professor Levi Thompson, Dr. Saemin Choi, Dr. Paul Rasmussen and Dr. Stefan Heinemann formed through the University of Michigan, where we work, teach, invent and collaborate. The U-M Office of Technology Transfer helps us leverage the commercial potential of our innovation, by licensing the product, attracting investment and actively moving it from lab to commercial marketplace.
