Executive Chef John Keller to Create Relief Kitchen Benefiting Hurricane Sandy Victims in NYC

NEW YORK, Nov. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- On November 16, 2012 at 2pm, Dinner on Ludlow Executive Chef, John Keller will be setting up the Dinner on Ludlow Relief Kitchen at Guyon Rescue to benefit victims of Hurricane Sandy in the New York City borough of Staten Island.

Wanting to help New Yorkers affected by the devastating storm, Executive Chef Keller devised the pop up kitchen concept with the goal to not only provide hot meals at this 24 hour relief center, but to create an atmosphere that would serve home cooked comfort foods to the victims displaced by Hurricane Sandy.

"I feel that we are such a media and technology based society that if an issue isn't constantly in the forefront of the media, than it becomes forgotten," said Keller. " When I heard about the tireless efforts the Staten Island residents serving Guyon Rescue put together to help their own community, I felt an immediate need to not only raise awareness for the local charity funding the center, World of Women, but also for the extreme devastation the surrounding communities are faced with. My job as a chef is to create great food and an atmosphere where patrons enjoy themselves and feel at home. I feel that the Dinner on Ludlow Relief Kitchen will help displaced residents in Staten Island feel a sense of home, if only for a few hours." With the support of the Dinner on Ludlow partners and local purveyors such as Sid Wainer & Son, DeBragga & Spitler, Woolco Foods, and Balter, Executive Chef Keller has put together a menu that includes Beef and Vegetable Stew, Herb Roasted Chicken, Garlic Sauteed Cauliflower and Broccoli, Chive mashed potatoes and Mixed Greens Salad w/ balsamic vinaigrette. The pop up kitchen is expecting to feed approximately 200 people.

In addition to the pop up kitchen, Dinner on Ludlow, will be raising funds for the Guyon Center, this weekend at the Manhattan based restaurant to assist in maintaining the relief effort.
