TIBCO expands strategic alliance with Siemens Healthcare

Nov 16, 2012 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- TIBCO Software Inc., a provider of infrastructure software for companies to use on-premise or as part of cloud computing environments, has announced the expansion of a strategic alliance with Siemens Healthcare, a provider of healthcare information technology solutions, medical devices, and services, to address emerging opportunities in the healthcare market.

The expanded relationship will allow Siemens to deploy many of TIBCO's latest offering throughout the Soarian suite of products and gain access to a set of additional TIBCO capabilities. Siemens and TIBCO believe these additional capabilities will be integral to future solutions tackling problems in healthcare such as population management and care management.

The two companies will work to improve a unique SOA-driven (Service Oriented Architecture) approach in Soarian Clinicals, for example, by delivering dynamic business processes across the Soarian suite of products on TIBCO's next-generation business process management platform, TIBCO ActiveMatrix BPM. This will allow the Soarian products to offer an unprecedented end-to-end operational visibility and management across the entire hospital IT landscape.

This strategic alliance will help Siemens in transitioning hospitals, using Soarian, into Event-Enabled Enterprises, by allowing them to analyze large volumes of events in near real time - pairing current activity with historical data in order to anticipate and potentially influence patient care and overall hospital operations.

"When Siemens Healthcare initially launched Soarian we intended to challenge conventional thinking and adopt a Web-based, open architecture that could benefit from TIBCO iProcess BPM; as the market has matured, our customers now face challenges that stem from the need to coordinate care across multiple settings and to find ways to improve the health of populations - so we feel that by again turning to TIBCO we can leverage modern technology to keep our customers on the forefront of care delivery," said Tommy Richardson, chief technology officer and vice president of technology, Siemens Healthcare, Health Services.
