Cord Media Hires New Account Executive as Company Expands its Gaming Portfolio

(GlobeNewswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Palm Desert, CA, Nov. 21, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cord Media has named Therese Everett-Kerley, former publicist for the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians' gaming properties, to Account Executive for the award-winning  marketing communications agency based in Palm Desert.  She will be responsible for managing existing accounts, as well as working to acquire new ones.     "We are so pleased to bring Therese on board," said Jonas Udcoff, CEO of Cord Media. "She brings an enormous amount of Tribal Gaming experience to Cord Media, having overseen publicity for the openings of a luxury hotel and concert venue, as well as day-to-day casino publicity for one of the most prestigious Indian Gaming Tribes in the country."   The daughter of a journalist, Everett-Kerley began her career writing and producing news, entertainment, and sports in the Los Angeles television market, where she earned an Associated Press writing award at KTLA, and later assisted in the launch a horse-racing gaming network (TVG).  In 2001, she moved from covering the news to making it--joining the Bio-medical division of the American Red Cross, and later the Community Blood Bank in Rancho Mirage.

In 2006, Everett-Kerley signed on to handle resort and casino publicity for one of the country's most respected Indian Tribes.

During her six years with the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, she directed day-to-day PR activities for the Tribe's resorts, including the 2008 grand opening of the 4-Diamond Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa, and in 2009, the star-studded premiere of the Tribe's concert theatre "The Show".  She also managed PR for Agua Caliente's sister resort Spa Resort Casino, the world-famous Indian Canyons hiking trails, and Indian Canyons Golf Resort. In addition to managing publicity, sponsorship, and social media efforts, she also wrote and produced the resorts' radio and television spots, corporate videos, and created a commercial film and photography department that serves as an additional revenue stream for the ACBCI properties.  Everett-Kerley has been honored by Indian Gaming Magazine, the American Advertising Federation, and was nominated for a "Businesswoman of the Year" award in the city of Rancho Mirage.

An avid equestrian, Everett-Kerley spends weekends riding at Eldorado and Empire Polo Clubs.  Originally from South Pasadena, she currently resides in La Quinta, with her husband Chris.
