Memorial Healthcare System Launches Online Newsroom with Features for Consumers and Journalists

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. --(Business Wire)--

Memorial Healthcare System, the fifth largest public healthcare system in the country, has launched a new online newsroom on its website MHS.net that provides the latest hospital news and information, including research, medical technologies and innovative treatments available.

The site, which can also be accessed directly at (http://news.mhs.net/) provides journalists and consumers with a one-stop-shop host of resources, including press releases and links to other institutional resources such as annual reports and e-newsletters. Other features include subject-matter experts, story ideas, downloadable medical expert videos and the ability to register to receive e-mail alerts and RSS feeds.

Since its launch, the newsroom has highlighted some of Memorial's major news, which has included its own Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital 20th anniversary, the touching stories of two children who received heart transplants and are now thriving, and other institutional updates.

The online newsroom allows visitors to download or request medical stories or physician/expert interviews on video. It will have logos and other institutional images and access to other content through the company's social media channels on Facebook, and YouTube. The search functionality also makes it easier to filter and find information according to a specific subject matter or timeframe.

"Our goal is to better serve both consumers and journalists who are searching for medical information and experts, while also increasing our team's ability to assist media with specialized requests," said Kerting Baldwin, director of Corporate Communications.

Memorial Healthcare System is the fifth-largest public healthcare system in the country. It is a national leader in quality care and patient satisfaction and is ranked on Modern Healthcare magazine's list of Best Places to Work in Healthcare. Its facilities include Memorial Regional Hospital, Memorial Regional Hospital South, Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital, Memorial Hospital West, Memorial Hospital Miramar, Memorial Hospital Pembroke and Memorial Manor nursing home.
