Share the season: Medical bills weigh down couple, 3 kidsNov 30, 2012 (The Wichita Eagle - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Share the Season is an annual campaign that offers one-time aid to people affected by unforeseen hardships. The people are not identified to protect their privacy. This couple with three children has been hit with medical expenses that have left the family unable to make bill payments. The father, 32, had life-altering surgery in 2009 and has been unable to work since then. While he was in the hospital, he lost his job. Because he lost his job, the family lost a car and a house. His wife, 33, recently had her own medical issues that forced her to take time off from her job. That caused the couple to fall farther behind on bill payments The mother continues to work even when she is ill because she is the only one in the home who has a job. Her husband receives some medical disability insurance. "We continue to cut back where we can and pay what we can when we can," the mother wrote in her application to Share the Season. They need money for medical costs and other bills. "There is always a lot less money than bills," the mother wrote in her application. "Programs like this really help out and are truly a blessing from God. Helping pay off these bills would really be a start to help us get back on track."
