Otrum launches hospitality software solutions for smart devices and smart TVs

Dec 10, 2012 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Otrum has announced the launch of Otrum Touch, a hospitality software solutions for smart devices and smart TVs.

Otrum Touch is a new range of hospitality apps designed and developed by Otrum for smart devices. Touch Housekeeping provides hotel staff with an intuitive way to report and monitor hotel room status, maintenance tasks and minibar consumption for Android, iPad and smartphones, the company said.

The touch user interface has smart filters that make it quicker to find reported issues and get tasks done. If the hotel has Otrum Enterprise, staff can even control the TV to play some music while they work! Touch Housekeeping is available both as an add-on feature to Otrum Enterprise and as a stand-alone product with Otrum Start.

With Enterprise Smart the company has removed the set-top box from the interactive TV solution and integrated Otrum Enterprise directly in the Smart TV hardware. The first version has been developed in collaboration with LG for the LG LT760H screen series, and it is working closely with other vendors to expand its offering.

Enterprise Smart features advertising, bundling, smartphone and courtesy, not to mention the Live UI which has been brought to new life with HTML5.

Otrum has embraced HTML5 as the engine for its Graphical User Interfaces. It is an open web standard which is reliable and efficient. It will allow Otrum to create responsive menus with advanced graphics, typography, animations and transitions that can be adapted to different devices and screen resolutions. The HTML5 standard is backed by major companies, such as Apple, Google, and Microsoft, as well as Smart TV developers like LG, Philips and Samsung, the company added.

"When we released the Otrum Enterprise platform back in 2011, it was born ready for HTML5 and smart devices." commented Andreas Tonnesen, client software manager. "Personally I'm very impressed with everything you can do with Javascript these days, and just how smoothly it runs our whole application on any device we adapt it for." http://www.datamonitor.com Republication or redistribution, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited without prior written consent.
