New "SayWhat" App Redefines Phone Calls by Bringing Voice and Text Together

TEL AVIV, ISRAEL, Dec 11, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- SayWhat Labs Ltd. today announced the availability of SayWhat, the first smart phone app that allows users to send, accept or reject phone calls with a personal message and emoticon. SayWhat directly addresses the way people communicate today, with the rise of text messaging and the growing perception that voice calls are sometimes unnecessary, intrusive or even impolite. The SayWhat app eliminates the barrier between voice and text by allowing both caller and recipient to exchange a short message and emoticon as a voice call is being placed. Similar in purpose to an email subject line, SayWhat easily resolves the question of whether to place or take a call -- and provides a fun way to express the mood, topic or urgency of a voice call.

"Despite innovations in phone calling such as caller ID or speed dialing, you always had to answer the call to find out what it was about," said Noam Wolf, co-founder and CEO of SayWhat Labs Ltd.

"SayWhat finally eliminates that issue. We believe this a milestone technology that will have a widespread impact on the way people communicate with their friends, family, peers and business colleagues." Free, Fast and Easy to Use SayWhat is a free application that comes with a wide variety of predefined messages and expressive emoticons designed for use in different categories of calls including casual, fun, work and love. Users are also able to write their own messages or use their own emoticons when placing calls if they wish. Whether it's a personal or business call, SayWhat provides the comfort of knowing what a call is about before it starts. If a voice call is inconvenient, the recipient can respond with "Sorry, I can't talk now." Or if the call is urgent, such as in an emergency, the caller can let the recipient know that he or she should pick up. In addition, SayWhat also features an exclusive "Can You Talk " button that lets users immediately see the availability of their contacts without actually placing the call.

"Anyone who has ever wondered if they should answer a call can understand why this app is a real game changer," added Wolf. "The way we communicate today very often requires the ability to understand and set the agenda for a live voice call. SayWhat does this in a way that is not only functional, but also lots of fun." Technology and Availability SayWhat Labs developed the Enhanced Call Information (ECI) technology that allows callers to enhance their calls with text, icons and priority. The ECI layer is available before, during and after calls and allows recipients to evaluate the layer and decide whether to accept or dismiss the call. ECI is kept for future reference and is available to users through the call log.

SayWhat is now available as a free app for Android(TM) devices in Google play and is available in English, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Russian, French, Italian, Hebrew, Korean, Japanese, Simplified and Traditional Chinese languages. In the near future, it will also be available as an app on iPhone(R) and Windows(R) devices. To view a video demo of the app, go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch v=hi-WuofOn8w&feature=plcp.
