Ranger Service teams up with historian and archaeologist for Health Walk with a twistDec 12, 2012 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- Aberdeen City Council's Ranger Service, historian Christopher Croly and archaeologist Judith Stones will team up this week for a walk with a twist. The event on Friday [14 December] is part of the Health Walks programme, which was devised by the Ranger Service in partnership with NHS Grampian and the Forestry Commission Scotland and includes walks of varying intensity and length. The next one will be led by ranger Ruth Bone who will take walkers around Scotstown Moor Local Nature Reserve. They will be joined by Chris, who will be talking about, among other things, medieval turf disputes and Judith, who will be telling walkers about the WW2 remains that can be seen on the moor. Ruth said: "I am delighted that Chris and Judith can join us for this walk. This is a fantastic opportunity for people to get out and about while learning about some of the history and archaeology of this fascinating area of Aberdeen. "This is the last Health Walk of the year and it might be a chilly one so bring your woolly hat. Please be aware that some path sections are muddy, so sturdy footwear is advised. If the paths are very icy we may have to cancel, so if in doubt phone to check if the walk is on." Walkers should meet at the Nature Reserve car park off Scotstown Road at 2pm on Friday [14 December]. The number five bus stops at nearby Dubford Road. The walk is free but booking is required.
