Concerned Shareholders of St. Elias Mines Ltd. Urge Shareholders to Continue Voting GREEN PROXIES

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Dec 20, 2012 (Marketwire via COMTEX) -- Gilby Len Hastman and Darcy Kim Hastman (the Concerned Shareholders) announce that on December 18, 2012 the British Columbia Supreme Court declined to find that article 14.10 of the Company is inoperative or of no effect with respect to the nominations of James E. Rainbird and Richard Alexander Defreitas at the Company's upcoming AGM and declined to make an order that the AGM be adjourned until January, 2013. Consequently, the AGM is still scheduled to be held on Thursday, December 27, 2012.

Although the Concerned Shareholders are disappointed with the Court's decision, they remain fully committed to bringing change to St. Elias by electing a majority of new, independent directors at the upcoming AGM, and believe that they can and will succeed.

With just over one day remaining before the Company announced deadline for the deposit of proxies (i.e., 11:00 a.m. Pacific time on Friday, December 21), it is now more critical than ever that shareholders rally in support of the Concerned Shareholders and the dissident nominees. If you have not already voted a GREEN PROXY, please do so now. With the election of at least three of the dissident nominees to the board of directors of the Company, the Concerned Shareholders will still be able to implement the changes that are necessary to ensure that the Company makes prudent use of its financial resources and acts in a way that is in the interests of all of its shareholders.

To vote, if you are a registered shareholder, you should fill out, sign, date and deliver a GREEN PROXY to Computershare Investor Services Inc. by email to [email protected] or by fax to 1-866-249-7775.

To vote, if you are a non-registered shareholder, you should call the institution, such as a bank, trust company or securities dealer, that is holding your shares (the Intermediary) and request your 12 digit ("Opposition" or "Dissident") GREEN PROXY voting control number for the Company. You may have several GREEN PROXY voting control numbers, so please ensure to get all of them that represent all of the common shares that you hold of the Company. Once you have the GREEN PROXY voting control number(s), you can then go to WWW.PROXYVOTE.COM and vote via the internet or enter your voting instructions by telephone at 1-800-474-7493.

In order for the Concerned Shareholders to be able to tabulate all of the votes in time for the AGM, both registered and non-registered shareholders should have their GREEN PROXY completed and sent in as per the instructions above by no later than 11:00AM (Vancouver Time) on December 20, 2012.

For further information, including disclosure on the significant business experience of each of the director nominees of the Concerned Shareholders, please refer to the Dissidents Information Circular available on www.sedar.com under the profile of the Company.

If you have any questions, including on how to obtain your GREEN PROXY from your Intermediary, or would like to know of alternative ways of voting, please contact either of the Concerned Shareholders as follows: Gilby Len Hastman (1-780-974-5925), Darcy Kim Hastman (1-780-974-5924) or by email at "[email protected]".
