Level Platforms First RMM Vendor Delivering Mobile Device Management Features for iPhone 5 and iOS 6

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Ottawa, Ontario (PRWEB) December 21, 2012 As part of the continuing expansion of its Managed Workplace remote monitoring and management (RMM) platform, Level Platforms today introduced new Mobile Device Management (MDM) capabilities that help managed service providers (MSPs) simplify and speed email configuration, improve performance and enhance security for new smartphones and tablets from Apple. Deploying enhanced MDM capabilities, now available as part of Managed Workplace 2012 R2 Feature Pack 1, MSPs will help end-clients lower operating costs and address critical security concerns as sensitive corporate material is shared and accessed on mobile devices.

“As device manufacturers expand the performance of mobile devices, we’re rapidly evolving our own MDM capabilities within the Managed Workplace platform to introduce new levels of configuration, management and monitoring for MSPs serving the small and medium business market,” said Gordon Rielly, CTO, Level Platforms. “Fully integrated, comprehensive MDM features are critical for MSPs as they seek ways to expand their services offering and grow their business. We’ve made a clear commitment to being the leader in MDM to ensure Level Platforms Partners have the technology and tools required to manage the entire IT experience for their clients.” Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) Configuration for iOS 6 New MDM features in Managed Workplace 2012 R2 Feature Pack 1 include iOS email configuration policies supporting EAS, in addition to POP3 and IMAP4 mail solutions. Using email policies, MSPs can automatically configure all iOS devices to receive corporate email with minimal end-user involvement or support from an internal IT organization. In addition, with new MDM iOS features MSPs can set options to improve email security, including preventing apps from accessing a user’s email account. Level Platforms’ MDM offering also supports email configuration policies for all other major devices, including EAS for Android devices.

“For clients considering IT solutions for mobile devices, their main requirement is simplifying device set-up and ongoing management to help improve productivity,” said Blake Schwank, CEO of Colorado Computer Support, a Level Platforms MSP Partner now deploying MDM to clients in the education and professional services markets. “Our end-users want to access email, documents and business applications, whether they are on a mobile device, a laptop or their PC. With expanding MDM features, we’re able to more easily manage all technologies our clients rely on – from the desktop to their iPhone – all from the same central Managed Workplace dashboard.” Additional MDM Features Level Platforms’ expanded MDM capabilities provide monitoring and management for all major smartphones and tablets, including devices from Apple, Google, Microsoft and RIM. Managed Workplace MDM features allow MSPs to fully manage mobile devices for their end-clients, including simplified provisioning of email and network connectivity, automated asset information collection, monitoring and altering, comprehensive security features to track devices, restrict access and wipe information if required, and more.

New MDM features with Managed Workplace 2012 R2 Feature Pack 1 include:    •  Roaming Detection alerts the MSP when a device changes mobile networks to help control operating costs for their end-clients;    •  New configuration policies to improve iOS device security and functionality to help clients reduce costs and administrate corporate usage guidelines, including regulating the ability for end-users to download, access or delete applications, store documents in the cloud, share photos and more ;    •  Restricting the use of application, such as cameras in high-security environments, for iPhone and Android devices.
