Jan 02, 2013 (Standard-Examiner - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Phone service restored in Ogden OGDEN -- CenturyLink representative Jackie Lalor reported Tuesday that phone service had been restored to a north Ogden apartment complex at 381 N.Washington Blvd.



"All customers should be reconnected and have their phone line working," Lalor said in a phone call to the Standard-Examiner.

Residents at the apartment complex had been without land-line service since Thursday, Lalor said.


One resident living in the complex said the phone service had been out since Wednesday and had impacted about 200 residents living there.

Lalor said the service had an impact on just a little more than a dozen families.

The service was restored sometime during the night on Dec. 31, said Lalor.

Lalor said the phone service experienced a technical problem and that customers will receive a credit.

Men arrested for shooting guns OGDEN -- Two men woke up Tuesday realizing they were starting the new year in jail.

Ogden residents Nicholas Gonzalez, 42, and Rogelio Sustaita, 50, were arrested by Ogden police on the 2100 block of Quincy Avenue just before midnight Monday, said Ogden Police Lt.Tony Fox.

Police say the two were intoxicated and were shooting .22-caliber rifles at cans.

The two were each arrested for possession of a weapon by an intoxicated person, shooting within city limits, intoxication and resisting arrest.

Gonzalez also was arrested for resisting arrest and had to be Tased, Fox said. Medical personnel were called to the scene to assure he was OK.

Davis County diesel testing center opens KAYSVILLE -- The Davis County Technical Center closed at the end of December. In its place, the Davis County Testing Center is opening today.

The Testing Center will only handle testing and registration of diesel vehicles from 2007 or earlier. No services will be available for any gasolinepowered vehicles or for diesel vehicles newer than 2007.

Vehicle safety inspections and emissions testing for all gasoline-powered motor vehicles and newer-model diesels may be done at the 100-plus privately operated facilities throughout Davis County.

Classes to stop smoking offered OGDEN -- Weber-Morgan Health Department offers Ending Nicotine Dependence classes, which are geared toward youths who would like to quit using tobacco.

Participants will learn about the benefits of quitting tobacco and will have the opportunity to practice behavior-modification strategies to quit or reduce their tobacco use.

The class meets weekly from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. each Tuesday for four weeks and costs $25.The next class will be Tuesday, Jan. 8.
