Huawei and WIT Software Successfully Completed Interoperability Testing for RCS-e Services

(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 11 January 2013 Release date- 09012013 - Shenzhen, China - Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, and WIT Software announced the successful completion of an Inter Operability Testing (IOT for RSC-e services.

This test was conducted using Huawei's self-developed Rich Communication Suite (RCS) application server (AS) and WIT Software's mobile RCS applications.

RCS is a standard launched by the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA) aimed at enriching basic mobile communications services. To date, nine of the 11 major terminal vendors have announced their intention to embed RCS features natively into their terminals, with more than 20 models expected in early 2013. WIT Software was selected by GSMA as the official provider of downloadable clients for iOS and Android devices, from a pool of companies providing RCS software clients. The company is also the first to get full accreditation for having the latest RCS specifications. From a network perspective, the RCS Application Server (AS) is an important element required to support RCS services across a wide range of terminals and applications. It is therefore crucial for the RCS Application Servers to have strong interworking capabilities.

Huawei RCS AS completed a series of IOT cases with terminals from many vendors, in particular with WIT Software, in Huawei's Shenzhen IOT laboratory. The tests covered many RCS-e services, such as registration, capability discovery, instant messaging (IM), file transfer, and image and video sharing.

The successful completion of this test demonstrates that Huawei's RCS AS is now able to be commercially deployed globally, across various RCS terminals. Beyond the network infrastructure, Huawei also has the capacity to provide an end-to-end RCS solution including native RCS handsets, which was awarded the GSMA Joyn accreditation in October 2012.
