Shooting suspect arrested in traffic stopJan 11, 2013 (Odessa American - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Police arrested a 19-year-old Odessa man wanted in connection with a December shooting after a traffic stop last week. Abner "Ace" Bustillos, 303 W. 47th St., remained Thursday in Ector County Detention Center, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and failure to identify himself as a fugitive. His total bond was $85,000. At 3:30 a.m. Dec. 1, officers with the Odessa Police Department responded to a call of a gunshot victim in the Arbor Terrace Apartments at 1101 Fitch, according to a news release. Upon officers' arrival, they found Mark Anthony Lujan, 20, who had been shot and was transported to Medical Center Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators determined that a fight erupted in the parking lot of the apartment complex, and during the course of this fight, one person produced a firearm and fired two shots. The individual then left the scene. Investigators then obtained an arrest warrant for Bustillos. That warrant turned up during a Jan. 3 traffic stop in the 500 block of South Grant Avenue, according to an arrest affidavit. Bustillo was riding with six others in a 2006 Ford F-150 with a severely damaged window and a bandana wrapped around the rearview mirror. The affidavit stated Bustillos provided a false date of birth, which an officer later discovered and corrected, leading the officer to the outstanding warrant.
