BRIEF: Police: Man responds to online ad, robs seller of iPhone

Jan 16, 2013 (The Morning Call (Allentown - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- An Allentown man responded to an online ad for an iPhone on Tuesday by robbing the seller at gunpoint, according to court records.

After seeing the Craigslist ad, Jaylin J. Huggins, 19, showed up for the smartphone at 4:05 p.m. near Second and Chew streets in the city, pulled a handgun and took the victim's phone and ran, police said.

The victim was with his mother and both gave police a description. Witnesses told police they saw the man run behind an apartment in the 300 block of Ridge Avenue.

Police went to the building and found Huggins hiding on the third floor, according to court records. Both the victim and his mother identified him as the robber, police said.

Huggins admitted to the robbery and said he threw the gun, which he said was a toy, into a backyard, according to a criminal complaint.

Huggins, of 521 Turner St., was charged with robbery. He was arraigned by District Judge Jacob Hammond and sent to Lehigh County Prison under $100,000 bail.
