BRIEF: AT&T U-verse outage across city, state

CLAREMORE, Jan 23, 2013 (Claremore Daily Progress - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- AT&T U-verse -- A major cable, internet, and telephone provider in the Claremore area -- has been undergoing an extended interruption in service since at least 6 a.m. Tuesday, leaving many Claremore residents and some businesses disconnected and frustrated.

Although repeated phone calls to AT&T U-verse proved unfruitful in reaching a company representative for comment, since early Tuesday, the company had placed a prerecorded message on their network of answering systems, stating they "were aware of a service interruption" and were "currently working to identify and correct the problem." On the company's official Facebook page, beneath a posting about honoring Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, innumerable AT&T U-verse customers from across Oklahoma and many other states including Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Texas and others expressed their frustrations with the outages.

In the same feed, an anonymous AT&T U-verse spokesperson posted mid-Tuesday that the company "had been able to identify an issue with a server which supports U-verse," and thanked customers for their patience.

As of noon Wednesday, many Oklahomans and Claremore residents were still without service.
