U.S. Customs and Border Protection Announces Citizens Academy in AjoJan 28, 2013 (DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY DOCUMENTS AND PUBLICATIONS/ContentWorks via COMTEX) -- (Monday, January 28, 2013) Why, Ariz. - Border Patrol agents from the Tucson Sector's Ajo Station and CBP officers from the Lukeville Port of Entry will host an integrated CBP Citizens Academy in Why, Ariz., beginning Feb. 28. Participants will meet on Thursday evenings from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. for six weeks, concluding on April 4. The program is designed to provide members of the community with an inside look into the daily operations of securing the border at and between the ports in Arizona. Throughout the course attendees will be able to participate in interactive demonstrations such as defensive tactics, tracking, and inspections for prohibited items. Participants will also learn about each component's distinct roles and responsibilities as well as their integrated mission to secure America's borders. This program is offered at no cost to participants and all class materials will be provided. Please note that a background check is required and applicants should be in good physical health.
