Windsor Selects COMS Interactive Disease Management Program

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 31, 2013 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Windsor, a leading California long-term care organization, has chosen the COMS Interactive (Clinical Outcomes Management System) Daylight IQ(TM) product suite as a key component of its disease management program. Daylight IQ(TM) is being deployed at Windsor's thirty-three facilities located throughout the state.

Daylight IQ(TM), a Software as a Service (SaaS) product, will allow Windsor nursing teams to realize immediate clinical benefits. Daylight IQ(TM) features integrated, disease-based clinical protocols that significantly empower a clinical team by identifying changes in condition at the point of care. Daylight IQ(TM) highlights abnormal findings and provides the nursing team with appropriate interventions and/or physician communication.

"Our goal continues to be improving the care provided to our residents while reducing avoidable re-admissions," noted David Farrell, Regional Director of Operations, Windsor. "The decision to deploy Daylight IQ(TM) fits perfectly with the Windsor disease management strategy." The Daylight IQ(TM) product suite focuses upon improving quality of care by closely tracking changes in condition and initiating appropriate clinical interventions. Key components of the product suite include an Automated Disease Care Guide Library, a Dynamic Nursing Assessment and Compare Module, all of which work in conjunction with each resident's disease profile. It's important to note that utilizing Daylight IQ(TM) reduces 30-day hospital readmissions and premature mortality by more than 50%.

"As an acknowledged market leader, Windsor is recognized for providing outstanding care and their significant efforts to improve upon the quality of life for each individual are exceptional," noted Edward J. Tromczynski, Chief Executive Officer, COMS Interactive, LLC. "Hospitals nationwide are partnering with progressive skilled nursing facilities in extending care for their patients and we're excited to partner with the Windsor team in this quality of care initiative." Industry data shows that the average nursing home resident has a complicated health profile, including one primary disease and up to eight secondary diseases or afflictions. Over 70% of re-hospitalizations from a skilled nursing facility are due to a secondary or new disease progression. By providing early detection of an individual's change in condition, Daylight IQ(TM) highlights potential problems and offers caregivers the opportunity to respond, preventing further progression of the illness or affliction.

"This is exciting news from two of our strong partners," noted Joe Diaz, Regional Director, California Association of Health Facilities (CAHF). "Windsor is continually working to improve an already strong clinical strategy and the COMS Daylight IQ(TM) system is another significant step in this endeavor." About Windsor Windsor has been providing long-term healthcare and rehabilitation services since 1984.
