BRIEF: 3 injured in Route 1 crash in ThomastonFeb 02, 2013 (Bangor Daily News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- THOMASTON, Maine -- Three people were taken by ambulance to the local hospital after a Friday afternoon crash on Route 1. The crash occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m. when a 2000 Chevrolet sedan, driven by Stephen McCarthy, 80, of Thomaston, was driving north and attempted a left turn into an auto-body shop driveway, according to Thomaston Police Chief Kevin Haj. McCarthy turned into the path of a southbound 2003 sedan driven by Casey Palmer, 19, of Waldoboro, the chief said. The Thomaston ambulance crew was on another call at the time, so Rockland EMS was called in under a mutual-aid agreement. Palmer and his two passengers were taken by ambulance to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport. The names of the passengers were not immediately available. The chief said Palmer and a teenaged female passenger complained of back pain. He said he did not know the extent of the injuries to the second passenger.
