Vivacom increases 3G network speed to 42Mbps

Feb 08, 2013 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Vivacom, a telecommunication services provider, has announced that its 3G network has increased its maximum speed by 50% for downloading data and it now provides speed of 42Mbps for 22% of Bulgaria's population.

It is expected that by the end of the first quarter it will cover the top 10 cities in the country and the main Bulgarian resorts. Until now the network had the capability of 21Mbps for download and 5.74Mbps for upload, the company said.

Currently the telecom's 3G network covers 99.41% of the population and 95.95% of the country, its main advantage is the assured connection of at least 100Mbps to all 3G-telecom base stations. This gives Vivacom the capacity to maintain high speeds of mobile Internet, without being restricted to large cities or high number of users using the network simultaneously, the company added.

The new higher speeds will allow significantly faster obtaining of data directly to the end user and will be particularly useful for sending and receiving large files and for users who want to watch video in high definition via mobile devices. They will be available to all customers using tariff plans for data Traffic Unlimited M, L and XL, as well as packages with unlimited mobile Internet + Data Unlimited M, L and XL with voice SIM cards, the company concluded.
