Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Tablet with USB OTG To Be Compatible with LOK-IT

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Deerfield Beach, Florida (PRWEB) February 08, 2013 The LOK-IT Secure Flash Drive will be adding another tablet PC to its list of compatible smartphones and tablets, as it is widely anticipated that Samsung continue its trend of including USB On-The-Go (OTG) capability on its devices, including the soon to be launched Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Tablet PC.

It is widely accepted that tablet PCs provide significant advantages in many situations to the notebook PC and desktop PC counterparts. A recent study from an NPD Group study indicates that 37 percent of consumers who used to access content on their PCs switched to their tablets and smartphones. Common reasons for this movement are the tablet’s convenient form and the fact that tablets are always “on” and accessible – no booting required.

Yet, there remain obstacles to even wider acceptance. In 2011, Jack Wallen identified the top 10 ways tablets must improve, but many of these improvements have yet to emerge such as Better USB Support.

Samsung has been the primary manufacturer to take this issue seriously, as it has incorporated USB OTG into the majority of its branded tablet PC lines. USB OTG allows users to connect a peripheral device and operate it directly from the tablet, such as a mouse, keyboard or USB flash drive. USB OTG is active in previous releases of the Samsung Galaxy Tab, Samsung Galaxy Note, and Samsung ATIV families of tablets.

George Wolf, President of Systematic Development stated, “The portability of tablets provides business travelers a much lighter option to carrying a notebook. There may not always be an Internet connection while traveling or at a destination. Business must go on, so there must be another way to access and back up important files, while still upholding corporate data security policies.” The LOK-IT Secure Flash Drive is an encrypted USB flash drive that meets even the most strict portable data security standards. LOK-IT is completely O/S independent, so works with Android tablets and smartphones. The transfer of files between LOK-IT and tablets is made even easier with the free LOK-IT File Sync app that provides a way to do so, quickly.

Samsung has stated that the company’s primary goal for 2013 is to have its devices adopted my more corporations and enterprise users. The inclusion of USB OTG appears to be a difference-maker in Samsung’s favor and could be a factor in furthering its growth into the enterprise.

Apple does not allow USB OTG communication on any of its iPad tablets, and Google has currently opted out of USB OTG for use with portable storage in its line of Nexus tablets.
