The South Korean firm recorded a 214 percent increase year-on-year in mobile-device sales for 2012, driven by the Galaxy S3, Note 2 and comprehensive portfolio of mid-range mobiles and media tablets. In the UAE alone, Samsung recorded a 340 percent increase in year-on-year within mobile communication devices sales, the report said. Z10 SALES SET RECORDS FOR BLACKBERRY: BlackBerry Inc. has said that the launches of the Z10 smartphone in the UK and Canadian markets have set records for the launch of a new BlackBerry device. The launch of the touchscreen Z10 in Canada on Tuesday "was more than 50 percent better than any other launch day in our history in Canada," said CEO Thorsten Heins.
