Kindsight to Present on Growing Botnet Issues at Security B-Sides San Francisco and RSA Conference(R)

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, Feb 19, 2013 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Kindsight, a network-based security company, today announced that Kevin McNamee, security architect and director of Kindsight Security Labs, will present on the rising botnet concerns in mobile and broadband networks at both RSA Conference and Security B-Sides San Francisco during the week of February 25, 2013.

McNamee will share a new presentation titled "Build your own Android botnet" at Security B-Sides San Francisco. He will use a proof-of-concept Android botnet to demonstrate its capabilities and show how to develop new protection strategies. In his presentation, McNamee will provide live demos of how easily malware can be injected into a legitimate mobile app and the remote operation of an infected mobile device from a command-and-control (C&C) center.

At RSA Conference, McNamee will discuss "The Evolution of the ZeroAccess Botnet." He will showcase the research from Kindsight Security Labs that shows how the ZeroAccess botnet has grown as a significant threat to more than two million infected computers with over two hundred thousand active super nodes. McNamee will explain the discovery of its unique peer-to-peer encrypted C&C protocol, how it evolved into a new variant and the impact it's having on networks and the advertising ecosystem.
