Anadarko Petroleum Corporation elects Al Walker as board chairFeb 20, 2013 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- The board of directors of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation (NYSE:APC), a natural gas company, revealed on Tuesday the appointment of Al Walker as chairman of the board with the end of its Annual Meeting of Stockholders on 14 May 2013. According to the company, Walker will continue to serve as its president and CEO. Walker will succeed James T. Hackett, who will serve as the executive chairman through the company's 2013 Annual Meeting of Stockholders and will retire in June 2013. Consistent with industry best practices, the company's board of directors has enhanced the duties of the lead director to ensure it maintains a corporate-governance structure with appropriate independence.
