Cassidian Communications Awarded Contract for P25 Digital Land Mobile Radio System

RICHARDSON, Texas --(Business Wire)--

Cassidian Communications, an EADS (News - Alert) North America company, has completed an agreement to supply the city of Westminster, Colo., with a digital, trunked P25 Land Mobile Radio (LMR) system for public safety communications. Cassidian Communications will provide the city with a two-site, 10-channel 800MHz CORP25 radio solution, including hardware, software, system engineering, installation and maintenance.

The open, standards-compliant CORP25 network will replace the aging network currently used by Westminster's police and fire agencies. It will allow personnel from the city's police and fire departments to communicate with each other, as well as with responders on other P25 networks in nearby municipalities. Additionally, the CORP25 system will provide the city of Westminster with the improved coverage and increased capacity necessary to deliver the level of mission-critical communications needed to maintain its growth. The city of Westminster plans to go live with the new CORP25 system by the end of 2013.

"Having used Cassidian Communications' 9-1-1 call-taking equipment inside our emergency call center for over 13 years, we are very familiar with the quality of their public safety communications solutions," said Russ Bowers, Public Safety Communications Administrator for the city of Westminster. "We are confident that the new CORP25 radio system will perform with the same rliability and efficiency we have come to expect from the company."

The industry's only true non-proprietary P25 solution, the CORP25 system has an open design that supports true choice, allowing agencies to select best-in-class components from a variety of different vendors. This open approach enables competitive purchasing and lets customers like the city of Westminster build their networks with the best equipment for the best price, ultimately lowering the total cost of network ownership.

"As our first CORP25 system deployment in the state of Colorado, we are pleased to have been chosen by the city of Westminster to provide their new P25 digital LMR network," said Rich Cagle, vice president of sales, Cassidian Communications' Land Mobile Radio & LTE (News - Alert) division. "Its adoption will ensure reliable and interoperable radio communications, and demonstrates true cost consciousness on behalf of the city's public safety officials during this difficult economic time."

Cassidian Communications continues to serve clients ranging from public safety operations to Fortune 1000 corporations to Federal agencies. The company has more than 40 years of experience deploying 9-1-1- call processing systems, emergency notification solutions and first-responder digital trunked radio networks.
