United States : FORMER MICROSOFT developer voices disappointment [TendersInfo (India)]

(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Former Microsoft developer Nat Brown has voiced disappointment with the direction the Windows maker has taken the Xbox, failing to leverage on the 'stumbling failures' of Sony and Nintendo while making several mistakes with the platform.

One of the major mistakes is no support for indie development, Brown has expressed a huge distaste for the difference between the publishing models for XBLA and XBLIG (Xbox Live Indie Games).

The other key issue he has is with the way the Xbox 360 platform is the UI functionality. He argues that the 'device OS and almost the entire user experience outside the first two levels of the dashboard are creaky, slow, and full-of-shit'.

There has been an apparent shift in this generation of consoles to a new vision of the console as an entertainment hub, as against a box meant only for playing video games. Some of these modifications have been welcomed, one of the deviations between gaming on the Xbox 360 and the PS3 is that the Xbox 360 eases cross-game and cross-app talks in parties.

Whatever the case may be, it is tough to make a strong case for the Xbox 360 as anything except a giant success for the Windows maker, considering how successful it has been in the market.
