UL Warns of Counterfeit UL Mark on Compact Fluorescent Lamp


NORTHBROOK, Ill., May 15, 2013 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- The following is a notification from UL to consumers and retailers that the compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) identified below bears a counterfeit UL Mark for the United States and Canada. The compact fluorescent lamp has not been evaluated by UL to the appropriate Standards for Safety and it is unknown if this compact fluorescent lamp complies with the UL safety requirements for the United States and Canada.



Name of Product: Compact Fluorescent Lamp (CFL), No Model Number on Product Identification: The UL Mark on the compact fluorescent lamp is missing the following required markings: -- Word "LISTED" -- UL Control Number (four alpha-numeric characters) -- The product identify: "Self-ballasted Lamp" or "Lamp Adapter On the product: The compact fluorescent lamp is not identified by a model number and only has the markings shown below: 120V 60Hz 13W 6400K A photograph of the product with counterfeit UL Mark can found at www.ul.com/newsroom.
