Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan intend to develop trade-economic cooperation


Jun 15, 2013 (Trend News Agency - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- TASHKENT, Uzbekistan -- Uzbek President Islam Karimov and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said that there is considerable potential in the trade-economic sphere of the Uzbek-Kazakh cooperation.



They made this statement at a joint news conference on Friday following the talks during the Kazakh President's official visit to Uzbekistan.

According to the Uzbek side, the bilateral trade turnover as of 2012 increased by 9.6 percent up to nearly $ 2.8 billion and has a tendency to continue the dynamic and sustainable growth.


According to Uzbek President Islam Karimov, the situation was analyzed in this sphere in accordance with the economic cooperation strategy until 2016 at the meeting of the intergovernmental commission in Astana within the meeting of the intergovernmental commission.

The concrete agreement on commodity diversification, expansion of economic and cooperative relations, optimization of functioning the conjugated systems of transport communications and using the huge transit potential of the two countries were reached.

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed that Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan can trade in larger volumes and with greater benefit to both countries.

The presidents expressed confidence that the Kazakh President's visit to Uzbekistan will give a powerful impetus to the further strengthening of the multi-faceted bilateral cooperation.
