GE selects smart grid communications platform from Trilliant

Jun 26, 2013 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- General Electric Company, or GE, has selected a smart grid communications platform from Trilliant Holdings, Inc., a provider of smart grid communications solutions, to be a part of GE's Grid IQ solutions as a service, or SaaS, offerings for the public power industry.

"The Trilliant Communications Platform is a powerful option for our SaaS offering," said Mike Carlson, general manager-software solutions for GE's Digital Energy business. "Our end-to-end solutions, combined with the Trilliant Platform, provide our public power customers with a powerful combination to efficiently and effectively achieve their smart grid goals." According to Trilliant, its SecureMesh, part of the Trilliant Communications Platform, is a powerful combination of wireless networking technologies pre-engineered to work seamlessly together and purpose-built for the smart grid. The Trilliant Communication Platform provides utilities with the flexibility to phase in their smart grid deployments to meet their most pressing needs first. Utilities can choose which smart grid capabilities - Smart Distribution, Smart Metering, or Smart Consumer - they want to deploy first.

The Trilliant Platform allows a utility to deploy not only Smart Metering (AMI), but also the flexibility to support advanced Smart Distribution applications such as Volt/VAR control, fault detection, isolation and restoration (FDIR), and other real-time distribution automation initiatives in the future, the company said.

"We look forward to working alongside GE to support our public power customers," said Rob Conant, CMO at Trilliant. "Trilliant has successfully aligned with GE to deliver industry-leading smart grid solutions. Our advanced communications technology, combined with GE's excellent smart grid leadership, will continue to help make our utility customers successful." http://www.datamonitor.com Republication or redistribution, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited without prior written consent.
