Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence Launches Five-Part ACE Symposium Video Series and Quarterly Newsletter

Washington, DC, Sep 26, 2013 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- As part of on-going efforts to bring the cardiovascular community continuous quality initiatives and news, the Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence (ACE) announces the launch of a five-part video symposium series and the inauguration of a quarterly newsletter, The ACE Advisor.

Recorded at the 2013 Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) Scientific Interventions in Orlando, FL, the first of the video series: ACE Accreditation. Physician Talk: 3 Common CCL Issues will be presented this week. Gregory J. Dehmer, MD, FACC, FACP, FAHA, FSCAI; David H.W. Wohns, MD, FACC, FSCAI; and Bonnie H. Weiner, MD, MSEC, MBA, FSCAI, FACC and ACE Board Chair and Chief Medical Officer participate in a panel discussion about 3 common cardiac cath lab (CCL) concerns that physicians care about: random case reviews and who selects the cases, how to prepare for accreditation by overcoming resistance from your organization and strategies to fix the disconnect between the cath lab and quality.

Condensing the challenges to accurate and conforming documentation, "the goal in this era of public reporting is ensuring that the data are correct," said Dr. Dehmer. "We thought we were doing a good job [but] we weren't doing as great a job [in the cardiac cath lab] as we thought. ACE accreditation was a good experience and we are better for it." As the only provider of accreditation for the cardiac cath lab, ACE helps facilities and physicians improve their programs. To further promote the latest information in accreditation news and tools, ACE announces The ACE Advisor newsletter. Look for the inaugural issue next week or visit the ACE website to join the mailing list: http://www.cvexcel.org.

Next week the ACE video series features ACE Accreditation: Lessons Learned at Spectrum Health with David H.W. Wohns, MD, FACC, FSCAI, Spectrum Health.
