Howard A. Schmidt to Keynote Amphion Forum in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO --(Business Wire)--

Mocana (News - Alert), the device security leader, announced that Howard A. Schmidt, the former Cybersecurity Coordinator and Special Assistant to the President, will be the keynote speaker at the Amphion Forum coming to San Francisco December 12-13th. In addition to Dr. Schmidt, the Amphion Forum will also feature addresses from Anthony Reynolds, senior vice president for worldwide mobile solutions at SAP, and Tyler Shields, senior analyst at Forrester (News - Alert) Research.

The fast-growing event is being hosted by Mocana and presented by SAP, Intel, Forrester Research and Codenomicon. The theme of this year's conference will be "Big Ideas from the Intersection of Security, Mobility and the Internet of Things." Other Amphion Forum sponsors include Security Innovation Network (SINET), Appthority and Secure Access Technologies.

Howard A. Schmidt's distinguished career in defense, law enforcement and corporate security spans more than 40 years, and his keynote promises to offer unique perspectives on the challenges that lie ahead in securing mobility and the Internet of Things.

"The Amphion Forum attracts security experts from a broad range of industries, working together to address the serious and growing mobile and device security threats to business, critical infrastructure and national security," said Kurt Stammberger, CISSP, chair of the Amphion Forum. "Dr. Schmidt understands both the technological and political dimensions of these issues, and we are excited to have him addressing our Forum participants."

One of Schmidt's leading policy objectives while at the White House was the development of a National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace (NSTIC), which sought to enable private industry to create a more robust electronic identification schema for use online, similar to the way that many businesses today rely on the combination of driver's licenses and credit cards to authenticate identities in physical space.

In addition to his extensive public service, Schmidt has an active career in private industry and is a partner with Tom Ridge in Ridge Schmidt Cyber LLC, a consultancy in the field of cybersecurity. He also serves as board chairman of Amphion Forum sponsor Codenomicon (News - Alert), a company that develops robustness testing tools for manufacturers, service providers, government/defense and enterprise customers.

The Amphion Forum will also present a number of additional presentations and moderated panel discussions during the two-day event, with speakers from Bluebox, Bromium, Applied Control Solutions, Appthority, Mocana, Atimi, YarcData and other security technology innovators.
