(Global Times Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Inventors from 25 countries and regions will exhibit their advanced inventions at the 2013 China International Industry Fair next month, a government official said at a press conference Wednesday.The five-day event will run from November 5 to November 9 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Pudong New Area. The center has set aside 160,000 square meters of floor space for the 1,979 companies and organizations that plan to attend.About 30 percent of the attendees are overseas companies. Shanghai-based enterprises and organizations account for 29.7 percent. The rest will come from other parts of China.The industrial expo used to focus on production technologies, but in recent years it has focused more on technologies that are closely related to people's daily lives, said Li Yaoxin, director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization.A total of 70 universities, including 17 from Shanghai, will showcase 660 new inventions at the expo.Fudan University will demonstrate Light Fidelity (Li-Fi), a wireless communication technology that uses light to carry Internet signals instead of the radio frequencies used by Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi).A one-watt light emitting diode bulb with a chip can support four computers at the same time, according to Fudan University.Shanghai Jiao Tong University will showcase a television and tablet computer that allow people to watch three-dimensional videos without wearing special glasses, according to a report on the news website eastday.com.Tongji University has developed a mobile phone application that offers individual transportation plans by collecting real-time traffic information. For instance, if a person wants to go to a restaurant at a specific time and area, the application will recommend a restaurant and work out how to get there, according to a report in the Xinmin Evening News.
