CEA Announces Winners of 2013 Technology & Standards Awards


ARLINGTON, Va. --(Business Wire)--

The Consumer Electronics Association (News - Alert) (CEA)® recently announced the winners of the sixth annual Technology & Standards Awards. Nominees were judged on their commitment to excellence as evidenced by the extent and consistency of their overall, ongoing contributions to CEA's Technology & Standards program.

"This year's award recipients have demonstrated industry leadership through active participation in CEA's Technology & Standards program both over the long term and with recent projects," said Brian Markwalter, senior vice president for research and standards, CEA. "All of our honorees have dedicated countless hours to creating standards that launch new product categories and make existing products easier to use."

The winners of the 2013 Technology Leadership Award are:

  • Bill Rose of WJR Consulting for his many years of management and technical leadership of CEA's Home Networks Committee, support of CEA's Residential Systems Committee, and recent work related to smart grid and energy use information.
  • John Suh of Hyundai Ventures for his excellent leadership of CEA's Wireless Power Subcommittee during a time of rapid development and innovation.

The winners of the 2013 Technology Achievement Award are:

  • Charlie Hughes (News - Alert) of Excelsior Audio Design & Services and co-chair of CEA's Sound Measurement Working Group for spearheading the publication of CEA-2034, Standard Method of Measuement for In Home Loudspeakers.
  • Mark Stockfisch of Quantum (News - Alert) Data and co-chair of CEA's Uncompressed A/V Digital Interfaces Working Group for technical leadership in the publication of the best-selling standard CEA-861-F, A DTV Profile for Uncompressed High Speed Digital Interfaces.
