Kenyan actress shortlisted for British film award [Agence de Presse Africaine]


(Agence de Presse Africaine Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Kenyan actress, Lupita Nyong'o, is among top nominees shortlisted for this year's BAFTA (British Academy Film and Television Awards) Rising Star honour.The list unveiled in the UK capital London Tuesday ahead of the award conferment in February, pinned Miss Nyong'o recognition to her acclaimed film feature debut in Slavery epic, '12 Year A Slave' . Lupita Nyong'o, a graduate of the British bourgeois Yale University's drama school, was nominated alongside Palme d'Or Award-winning French actress, Lea Seydoux, star of controversial lesbian love story ‘Blue Is The Warmest Colour'. Other finalists include British actors Will Poulter, George MacKay and the US star Dane Dehaan. The prestigious award; which is decided by public vote, will be announced on February 16 during the British Academy Film Awards – Britain's version of Oscar. The Year's BAFTA award has the mobile phone giant – EE, as co-organizer.
