Energy Future Holdings Contributes More Than $3 Million to United Way, TXU Energy Aid

DALLAS --(Business Wire)--

In 2013, the people of Energy Future Holdings and its portfolio of companies, Luminant, Oncor and TXU Energy, showed their spirit for giving back in a big way, contributing $3.1 million to the United Way and TXU Energy Aid.

Employee and corporate campaign contributions will help Texas communities shine brighter, benefiting United Way's health, education and income initiatives, and keeping the lights on for families in crisis through TXU Energy Aid.

"I'm thrilled that we surpassed our campaign goal this year," said Andrea Pelosi, EFH's United Way and TXU Energy Aid campaign chairwoman. "Our employees go above and beyond in their giving each year and display a strong commitment to our communities. Together, we're providing assistance to more than 80 social service agencies and 22 United Way chapters across Texas."

Strengthening EFH's legacy of volunteerism, employees also contributed more than 1,800 volunteer hours during the campaign through activities at sites across the company.

Thanks to employees' generosity and participation, United Way of Metropolitan Dallas has honored EFH with a Best Practices Award for Young Professioal Engagement and an Outstanding Leadership Campaign Pacesetter Award. Additionally, EFH is one of six Pacesetter companies in North Texas with a million dollar or more campaign. Pacesetter awards recognize companies that set the tone for the campaign and inspire others to support United Way initiatives.

"We are enormously grateful for Energy Future Holdings' track record of generosity," said Jennifer Sampson, president and CEO of United Way of Metropolitan Dallas. "Since 2000, EFH has annually invested over $1 million locally in education, income and health - the building blocks for strong families and thriving communities. This year's campaign results - over $3 million - are nothing short of outstanding and a testament to the company's commitment to making North Texas the very best place to live, work and raise families."

EFH and its employees have contributed more than $25 million to some 22 United Way organizations since 2000. Additionally, for more than 30 years, TXU Energy Aid has served as an integral resource for social service agencies that assist families in need, helping more than 455,000 customers across Texas pay their electricity bills.

About Energy Future Holdings

EFH is a Dallas-based holding company engaged in competitive and regulated energy market activities, primarily in Texas. Its portfolio of competitive businesses consists primarily of Luminant, which is engaged largely in power generation and related mining activities, wholesale power marketing and energy trading, and TXU Energy, a retail electricity provider with more than 1.7 million customers in Texas. Luminant has approximately 15,400 MW of generation in Texas, including 2,300 MW fueled by nuclear power and 8,000 MW fueled by coal. Luminant is also one of the largest purchasers of wind-generated electricity in Texas and the United States. EFH's regulated operations consist of Oncor, which operates the largest electricity distribution and transmission system in Texas with more than 3.2 million delivery points and 119,000 miles of distribution and transmission lines. While EFH indirectly owns approximately 80 percent of Oncor, the management of Oncor reports to a separate board with a majority of directors that are independent from EFH.
